São Paulo International Schools STEAM Competition
The São Paulo International Schools STEAM Competition is a dynamic and collaborative event that brings together upper secondary students from international and bilingual schools across São Paulo to present innovative projects that integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).
Now in its latest edition, the competition was founded and is led by Claire Phillips, an experienced international educator and the director of Silver Lining Educational Solutions. The competition is designed to inspire students to apply interdisciplinary thinking to real-world challenges through creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.
📌 What is it?
A one-of-a-kind opportunity for students aged 14 and over to present original STEAM projects to a panel of judges and a live audience. All projects must be presented in English and should showcase inquiry, innovation, and impact. Categories include:
Scientific investigation
Research-based analysis
Design and build challenges
Awareness and communication campaigns
Projects must align with one of the competition’s core themes, such as:
Solving day-to-day annoyances
Re-designing our world
Innovating with biomimicry
Solutions to problems you didn’t know you had
👩🎓 Who can participate?
Open to students from any international or bilingual school in São Paulo state
Each school can submit up to four different projects
Each project team can include up to four students, all aged 14+
Suitable for students in:
MYP4–DP2 (IB)
Grade 9–12 (US)
Year 10–13 (UK)
9º ano do Ensino Fundamental II and 1º–3º ano do Ensino Médio (Brazil)

Thanks to the generous support of Inteli, this year’s competition will be hosted on their innovative and modern university campus.
👀 Can guests attend?
Yes – each student participant may pre-register up to two guests to attend the event. After project registration, teams will receive a confirmation email with further details and a guest registration form.
🔒 For safeguarding reasons, only pre-registered guests will be allowed to attend.
🏆 How are winners selected?
Projects will be judged by a panel made up of:
Teachers from each participating school (please nominate one judge per school during registration)
Specialist professors from Inteli
Judges will evaluate projects based on six clear criteria including innovation, communication, and real-world application. See the Judging Criteria page for full details.

Certificates of Achievement
Inteli “goodie bags” including a backpack, notebook, pen, t-shirt, squeeze bottle, and planner
🏆 The overall winning team will receive a free voucher to attend the Inteli 2026 BOOTCAMP – an immersive, project-based robotics experience
