👩‍🏫 About Me

I'm Claire Phillips, an experienced and passionate Science and Chemistry educator with over 15 years in international education. I specialise in guiding students through the MYP and IGCSE science programmes, as well as IBDP Chemistry at both HL and SL levels.

After over a decade teaching in leading international schools in the UK, China, and Brazil, I now focus on educational consultancy, curriculum development, and one-on-one tutoring. I bring extensive experience in science education leadership, including curriculum design, teacher mentoring, and coordination of large-scale student events such as science competitions and job-alike workshops.

I have been an IBDP Chemistry examiner since 2014, which gives me valuable insight into how students can best prepare for assessments and develop strong exam technique.

São Paulo International Schools STEAM Competition

The São Paulo International Schools STEAM Competition is an inspiring annual event that brings together student teams from international and bilingual schools in São Paulo. Established to promote interdisciplinary learning, the event invites young innovators to showcase their strengths in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics through real-world, hands-on challenges.

Why It Matters

The competition fosters a culture of curiosity, innovation, and interdisciplinary learning. It equips students with skills in problem-solving, teamwork, and design thinking—preparing them to thrive in an interconnected world.

Last years Judging Panel did a wonderful job encouraging students to elaborate on their STEAM projects.

📅 Date & Time

This year’s in-person competition will be held on Friday, November 29, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Teams will compete in themed STEAM categories and receive awards in a celebratory closing ceremony.

Who Can Participate

  • Open to teams of up to 4 students, aged 14 and above.

  • Each school may register up to four teams, promoting broad school engagement.

Project Categories

Participants may choose from four project formats:

  • Investigation (Science or Maths) – Formulating and testing hypotheses using empirical methods.

  • Design & Build – Creating a practical solution from concept through testing.

  • Research – Leveraging secondary data to construct evidence-based arguments.

  • Communication – Developing an effective informational campaign to raise awareness of a STEAM topic.

Competition Themes

Each project must align with one of the following themes:

  1. Solving Day‑to‑Day Annoyances – Addressing everyday frustrations to improve life locally.

  2. Re-designing Our World – Reimagining and enhancing existing solutions.

  3. Innovating with Biomimicry – Applying nature-inspired ideas to global challenges.

  4. Solutions to Problems You Didn’t Know You Had – Creating projects that surprise, then inspire reflection.

Judging & Impact

Projects are assessed on criteria such as creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and community benefit. Winning teams may receive exciting opportunities, such as free entry to the Inteli Bootcamp 2026, fostering deeper engagement with STEAM innovation.

Join Us!

As the founder and director of the São Paulo International Schools STEAM Competition, I warmly invite international and bilingual schools in São Paulo to participate. This year’s event on November 29, 2025, from 8 AM to 12 PM promises to be our most engaging edition yet.

To register, or for more information including judging rubrics, registration deadlines, or sponsorship opportunities, please visit our official website or contact me directly. Let’s come together to inspire innovation, nurture creativity, and empower the next generation of STEAM leaders!
